Urban Poetry Suite -  for Clarinet & Guitar

 

The Urban Poetry Suite was composed in the spring of 2015, inspired by an unforgettable moment outside the Mission Street BART station in San Francisco. One Friday evening, I witnessed a group of young men and women spontaneously jamming poetry—an electrifying display of energy, sincerity, and, most of all, uninhibited freedom. Captivated by their raw expression, I sought to translate that spirit into music.

The suite consists of five movements, each embodying a distinct poetic form: 1) Freeflow 2) Ballade 3) Slam & Improv 4) Sonnet 5)Rap. This piece is currently published by ALEA Publishing & Recording.
