Age of Tempest - A Tone Poem for Symphonic Wind Ensemble
Age of Tempest is a musical reflection of the psychological turbulence experienced during a time of profound global and personal uncertainty. The work opens with unsettling motivic fragments that give way to mounting waves of storm-like intensity. A rhythmically charged fugue emerges at the heart of the piece, symbolizing a search for structure amid chaos. The tone poem culminates in a finish that is both defiant and reflective—offering no easy resolution, only the resolve to persist. As the title suggests, we are living through an age of storms—where clarity is elusive, and the future remains unwritten.
This piece was commissioned by Stanford University's Music Department. My sincere gratitude to maestro Giancarlo Aquilanti and the extraordinary artists of the Stanford Wind Symphony.
