Phoenix Hairpin is a classic Chinese poetry formula. This version written in 1156 A.D. by Lu You, the famous Song Dynasty poet, is among the most celebrated love poems in Chinese literature. It was for his beloved ex wife Lady Tang Wan, whom he was forced to divorce due to his mother’s pressure. This poem describes his sadness and utter regret for letting her go.
